Electron Ideas Contest, Y'all!

Our lab makes cellphone powered point-of-care diagnostic devices for testing infectious diseases and other disorders. The idea is to leverage cellphone’s capabilities to control the diagnostic test (through tiny valves), measure the results (using photodiodes) and securely send them back to healthcare provider. This is great when you want the end user to do the test. Or the test is being performed in sub-Saharan Africa. But not so much in a doctor’s clinic…

For such cases, Spark electron is perfect candidate to replace the cellphone. The end product will be reusable battery-powered dongle with Spark electron inside coupled with disposable plastic cards for disease testing.
